Course Information

Curriculum

There are two sets of classes per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. Entry into the morning or afternoon classes is determined by skill level, and each comprises four classes per day.

Beginner class

Students study a variety of vocabulary, expressions, listening and conversation in order to gain a basic foundation in Japanese. Daily practice of necessary vocabulary and kanji is reinforced by frequent testing.

Intermediate class

Using the textbook as a base, the intermediate class aims to consolidate and improve vocabulary, grammar, reading skills as well as descriptive and debating skills. The overall goal of the intermediate class is to give students more familiarity in using Japanese in diverse contexts. The intermediate class provides extra classes to improve grammar and listening.

Advanced class

By working to improve on the vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing learned in the intermediate class, the advanced class aims to give students practical knowledge of Japanese as a living language. This includes both increased practice for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), and study using a greater number of real-world materials, such as newspapers, magazines, news, and television dramas to help students.

Elective Credits

In addition to intensive courses for the JLPT and EJU, students can also choose from courses such as traditional cultural courses, Japanese drama courses, and Business Japanese courses.

■Example Courses: Japanese in Manga & Anime, Japanese in Television & Film, Japanese Literature (novels & poetry), Japanese in Newspapers and Magazines, Business Japanese, Japanese History & Geography, Presentation Skills, Situational Conversation, etc.
■Japanese cultural events: learning how to make wind chimes, put on yukata and other Japanese traditions including, tea ceremony, origami, making Washi, Japanese food, Maid cafe experiential tour, pottery trial, etc.

School Trips

To improve students’ understanding of Japanese life, classes take several trips to culturally and traditionally significant places. During these trips, students can speak with the people working at these places to gain a better understanding of the Japanese way of thinking.

■Examples:Shiokaze Park Barbecue Field, Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Fuji-Q Highland, Kamakura / Enoshima, National Diet Building, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Disney Resort, Edo-Tokyo Museum, Morinaga Factory Tour, NINJA Trick House, professional training college Trial lesson, NHK Studio Park, National Museum of Nature and Science, Life Safety Learning Center Trial, Tokyo Recycling Activity Center, Railway Museum, etc.

Private Lessons

Private lessons allow individual students to select the lesson content, textbooks, and times that best suit their personal needs. Perfect for students interested in taking significant steps forward in a short time.

As an auditing student, you can:

Auditing courses are specially planned to avoid conflicts with Japanese courses,

The process is simple

Request → interview and level check (spoken and written) → trial lesson → finalization

Auditing rates:

Enrollment fee: ¥0
Application fee: ¥0
Course Fee (1 semester, 1 90-minute lesson per week) / ¥33,000(includes tax)
Upper Limit Up to five courses may be taken any number of times per week.
Text Fee The purchase of textbooks is the responsibility of the student.

  4. Qualifications: Graduating students receive the qualification of specialist, equivalent to a degree from a two-year junior college, useful for students interested in continuing their education at university.
  5. Studying Abroad: Students interested in studying abroad can benefit from WFLC’s assistance in introducing them to associated educational institutions around the world.
  6. Convenience: Students staying at the WFLC women’s residence need not move, nor adapt to a new environment; both home and school will be the same.
